Private-label NPK from Bảo Hà: what LAFCO can do for distributors and importers

LAFCO runs a 50,000 tpa NPK line at Bảo Hà offering custom formulations and private-label bagging from MOQ 1 × 40 ft container. This article walks through the NPK production flow, documentation, and FOB Hải Phòng export process.

Most "NPK manufacturers" in Southeast Asia are actually blenders — they buy urea, DAP, and MOP from third parties, blend to recipe, and bag. That means the whole raw-material story sits outside their control.

LAFCO doesn't match that description, for a simple reason: one of the three core NPK inputs — phosphate — we make on site. The fused-phosphate line (200,000 tpa) and the NPK line (50,000 tpa) sit in the same plant at Bảo Hà, Lào Cai, operating together since 2009.

This article is written for two audiences:

  1. Distributors who want to build a private-label fertilizer brand rather than continue as pure resellers.
  2. Importers across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Africa looking for a customizable NPK supply line from Vietnam.

How far we go on custom formulation

Per-order NPK manufacturing at Bảo Hà includes:

  • Any N-P-K ratio on request. Common formulations LAFCO has produced: 16-16-8, 20-20-15, 15-15-15, 5-10-3, 10-5-10, 16-6-10. Custom ratios available from MOQ 1 × 40 ft container (~27–28 tonnes).
  • Secondary and micronutrients (TEs): MgO, CaO, SiO₂, S, B, Zn — added to spec. A real advantage: LAFCO's Mg supply from our own serpentinite permits means declared MgO is delivered, not just printed.
  • Granule size: 2–5 mm standard, or 3–4.5 mm uniform-round for machine spreading. Buyer specifies.
  • Moisture: ≤ 2%. Bags survive 40 ft container transit across SEA and Africa without caking.
  • Granule color: dyeable to buyer spec (green, red, yellow, neutral) — useful when a distributor wants visual brand differentiation on local shelves.

Private-label bagging: your brand, our quality

Many distributors across SEA and Africa want to sell under their own brand — LAFCO supports private-label from MOQ 1 × 40 ft container:

  • 50 kg or 25 kg PP-woven bags, buyer's choice.
  • Bag printing: buyer's logo, brand name, English / Khmer / Lao / Bahasa / Swahili / Hindi / French — buyer supplies artwork, LAFCO prints and bags.
  • Inner PE liner against moisture on long transits.
  • Shrink-wrapped pallets, export-standard palletization (~30 pallets per 40 ft container).
  • Barcode + QR traceability on request.

Net outcome: distributors build their own brand without having to invest in a production line. LAFCO becomes an OEM partner behind the scenes.

Custom NPK order flow

From first inquiry to first bag delivered, a standard 25–45-day cycle:

  1. RFQ — buyer submits via lafco-global.com or direct email (N-P-K ratio, volume, destination port, required delivery month).
  2. Quote + draft spec — LAFCO responds within one business day with FOB Hải Phòng price, concrete lead time, and draft bag specification.
  3. Sample confirmation — on request, LAFCO ships a 1–5 kg sample to the buyer's address for granule and blend inspection before the full production run. Lead time 7–14 days by country.
  4. Contract + deposit — standard terms 30% T/T, 70% L/C at sight against documents, or 100% T/T for repeat buyers.
  5. Production + bagging — 10–20 days depending on volume and custom complexity.
  6. Domestic logistics Bảo Hà → Hải Phòng — 3–5 days by container.
  7. FOB Hải Phòng — LAFCO's responsibility ends at port; the importer receives the cargo and the original document pack.

Documentation LAFCO issues by default

Every export shipment carries:

  • Bill of Lading (B/L) — master or house depending on agent.
  • Commercial Invoice + Packing List.
  • Certificate of Analysis (COA) per lot — actual N, P₂O₅, K₂O, MgO, CaO content, moisture, granule size.
  • Certificate of Origin (C/O) — form B or FTA-preferential form D / AK / AI / VK.
  • Phytosanitary certificate — if the destination market requires it (most SEA + Africa do).
  • QCVN 01-189:2019/BNNPTNT conformity certificate for the phosphate fraction of the formulation.

KYC documentation available on request: tax ID 5300319727, business registration, mining permits 939/GP-BTNMT and 2304/GP-BTNMT.

Why source NPK from LAFCO instead of blending locally

Three reasons buyers source from LAFCO instead of blending in-market:

  1. Competitive FOB Vietnam cost on labor + energy: production costs at Bảo Hà are lower than most blenders in destination markets.
  2. Tighter QC through common ownership: with the P-component made on the same site, lot-to-lot variation doesn't track shifting external phosphate suppliers — a common failure mode for blenders.
  3. FTA duty treatment: NPK exported from Vietnam qualifies for 0% or preferential tariff under multiple FTAs (ATIGA, VJEPA, EVFTA depending on HS code) — distributors in partner countries often save meaningfully vs. sourcing from China or the Middle East.
